Fun Run fund-raisers rake in rewards

For their fund raising efforts at the Daniel Axford/Oxford Elementary School fun runs, two students were awarded with special prizes.
The two schools, considered one combined school operation, had about 785 students participate in their Sept. 26 Fun Run. Many of the students who participated, according to Parent Teacher Organization Vice President Shannon Groedel, received awards based on the amount of money they raised.
Groedl added that $25,470 was raised from the event.
Nine-year-old Ethan Cutler, a fourth grader at OES, received an iPod Nov. 6.
Cutler raised $400 during the fun run.
Catherine Dobies, a kindergartner at DA, received a trek bicycle Nov. 7.
The five-year-old Dobies raised more than $700 during the Fun Run.
The proceeds will be used by the PTO for classroom supplies, materials, things students need and books for the library. Also, PTO funds make it easier for the schools to offer free family night activities.
