Goodrich-Goodrich High School students wore many hats last week as they read to Reid Elementary students. Seussian hats.
In a tribute to the March 2 100th anniversary of the birth of Theodore Seuss Geisel of Springfield, Mass., the high school students donned striped felt stovepipe hats, as an ode
to the Cat in the Hat look created by the famous childhood author, Dr.
Seuss, whose rhyming books are found in countless childre’s book collections.
‘My hat is old, my teeth are gold,? read Vanessa Watters, a Goodrich High
School senior.Tiffany Thiel chimed in where Vanessa left off.
‘On his head he had a hook, on his hook he had a book.?
With chins cupped in hands and faces angled with interest, the children of Lorraine Kasper’s first-grade class listened with rapt attention, eagerly
pointing out their favorite illustrations.
Wandering the school halls was a tall black cat, a cat in a hat.
Played by Goodrich High School senior Matt Hill, the cat visited classrooms
throughout the school as part of the annual high school yearbook event to
promote reading during March.
