Goodrich — Goodrich High School student Junior Ella Schell was named Virtual Student of the Month for May.
Schell, 17 was recognized during the May School Board meeting. She travels nationwide for gymnastics and completed her three of her five virtual classes with As.
Schell has competed in gymnastics for more than 15 years and is a four times national qualifier in addition to a national team camp qualifier. The competes in vault, balance beam, floor and bars.
In February, Schell was offered a full scholarship to Iowa State University for gymnastics, where she plans to study nursing or a physician assistant.
She practices five days per week for about four hours at Olympia Gymnastics in Shelby Township.
“Gymnastics is a constant challenge and there’s always something to work for each day,” she said.
She is the daughter of Beth and Dan Schell of Grand Blanc.
