Girls tie for 2nd, boys finish 5th in Pickney meet

Oxford’s boy’s and girl’s track team participated in the Pickney High School Freshman and Sophomore Meet this past Saturday.
The girls finished in a tie with Canton for second place with 80 points. Oxford’s 400M-relay team, Tiara Tatarczuk, Ashley Eller, Lauren Curtis, and Jacqui Sylva had a first place finish with a total time of 53.6 seconds. This group also finished first in the 800-meter relay with a total time of 1 minute 53 seconds. Oxford scored a first place finish in the shuttle hurdles. Aleese Darin, Sarah Eisenberg, Natalie Lukas, and Marissa McIntosh notched a winning time of 1 minute,15 seconds. In the high jump event, both Vicki Wendt cleared 4 feet, 3 inches and Marissa McIntosh cleared 4?0? for second place.
The Oxford freshman and sophomore boys finished in 5th place with 75 points. In the field events, Oxford’s Russ Francis placed second in the shot put with a throw of 37 feet, 4 inches, and Josh Fair took second as well with a throw of 36 feet. Andrew Klimbal and Nick Collier placed second in the long jump with a combined leap of 18 feet, 2 inches. In the 400-meter relay, Jay Regan, Andrew Klimbal, Nick Collier, and James Nelson took first place with a time of 46.8 seconds. Adam Heskit, James Nelson, Jon Elin, and Ben Cole took second place in the Distance Medley with a winning time of 12:04.
