The varsity golf team hosted Lapeer East last Tuesday, but were unsuccessful in sending the Eagles home with a loss.
The Wildcats shot a 177 on their home course to East’s low score of 165. Senior Josh Tindall was on top for Oxford with a 41.
Senior Domonic Crosson and sophomore Ryan Collier each shot a 43, and sophomore Tony Frias rounded out the teams scoring with a 50.
‘We had a legitimate opportunity to beat East, but we just didn’t get the job done,? stated head coach Terry Kelley.
On a positive note, Oxford does have a league victory this year, ousting Linden 162-167, so the Wildcats know they are fully capable of pulling together and grabbing a few more victories before the season’s end.
This week Oxford will compete on Friday at Lapeer Country Club in the MHSAA Division II District Tournament.
Oxford will be competing against a few schools outside of the Metro League, but they will also be meeting up with league foes Brandon, Linden, Fenton, Clio, Lapeer East, and Lapeer West in the district.
The tournament begins Friday morning in Lapeer.
Good Luck, Wildcats!
