Good Samaritans help lost driver find her way home

A 93-year-old Waterford resident had the misfortune of getting lost when heading to a doctor’s appointment in Clarkston. After being yelled at by other drivers, fortunately she found help along the way.
Walt Svenkesen, owner of Viking Insurance Agency on Sashabaw Road, was just arriving to work when he noticed her in the parking lot.
‘When I approached her car, she seemed a little confused and frustrated about being lost. I asked her if I could help her,? Walt stated. ‘I knew I needed to ask for her license but, I look a bit intimidating and didn’t want to scare her in any way. At that point, I asked my office manager, Leslie Trombley to take over. Leslie obtained her driver’s license to find that she lived off of Elizabeth Lake Road in Waterford. As the lady waited in our office, I called the Waterford Police Department for assistance,? Walt stated.
The officer took the lady to her home as Leslie followed in the lady’s car. When they got to her home, Leslie took charge and found for phone numbers by the lady’s phone in hopes of locating family finally contacting her brother and granddaughter. She had a doctor’s appointment and then was going to have cake with her girlfriends,? Leslie said. ‘She was a very thankful, sweet lady. She even offered me a piece of cake!?
