Goodrich’s varsity hockey team closed out their regular season on the opposite end of a pair of shutouts.
The Martians lost a 6-0 contest to Flint Kearsley on Feb. 20, two days after blanking Lake Fenton 12-0. Goodrich finished their regular season with a 13-9-1 record.
Kearsley’s Eli Isaguirre put the Martians in a hole early, scoring the game’s first two goals (one in the first period, and one in the second).
It was a different story for the Martians against Lake Fenton, as Goodrich scored six goals in the first period and six more in the second on their way to the win.
Steve Locke notched a hat trick for the Martians with one goal in the first and two in the second. Nine other Martians ? Steve Tangney, Reece Geml, Derek Powers, Brian Van Kuren, Brennen Benedict, Derin Kern, Max Hawkins, Sean Rollins, and Dennis Berger ? scored one goal apiece.
