Goodrich— On Jan. 22 the Goodrich Martian Varsity Basketball team defeated the Brandon Blackhawks 77-45 in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer game.
The Blackhawks jumped out to a 17-16 lead at the end of the first quarter before the Martins took control of the game.
The Martians erased the early deficit and rallied for a 38-25 halftime lead. The Martians outscored the Blackhawks 39-20 in the second half en route to a 77-45 win. The Martians improved to 5-1 in the Flint Metro League after the win over Brandon and a 64-35 win over Flushing on Jan. 30. Brandon fell to 1-5 following the loss to Goodrich on Jan. 22 and to Swartz Creek 45-41 on Jan. 30.
GHS Jr. #1Parker LePla had 25 points, eight rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocked shots; brother GHS Frosh. #3 Jensen LePla, 18 points, four rebounds and six assists; GHS Drew Aagesen, eight points, one rebound and one block shot; GHS Sr. #4 Sr. Landon Brown four points, two rebounds and four assists and GHS Jr. #5 Landon Williams four points, one assist, three steals and a block shot.
For the visiting Brandon Blackhawks, BHS Sr. #0 Drew Hickmont 15 points, BHS Sr. #5 Brody Berchiolly 13 points, BHS Soph. #10 Demetri McNeir 6 points and BHS Jr. #11 Nolan Wood four points.
