Goodrich —A ninth-grade student at Goodrich High School who previously claimed to overhear a bomb threat recently admitted it was a hoax designed to score a day off school.
On Sept. 22, the 15-year-old was expelled.
The student may apply for readmission in August, 2003, provided she follows through with counseling, mentoring, and the educational program set up by the Goodrich School Board.
The program provides for limited instruction after school hours, said Goodrich Schools Superintendent Raymond Green, who said the student doesn’t have a history of delinquent behavior.
“I don’t think she’s a violent girl, but she made a really bad mistake,” said Green. “She’s very apologetic, and she and her father have been very cooperative.”
The incident is currently being investigated through the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office.
