Goodrich softball finishes perfect in league competition

The Goodrich varsity softball team put an exclamation point on a flawless league season.
In their final Genesee Area Conference Red Division doubleheader of the campaign May 19, the visiting Martians swept Flint Hamady, taking the opener 16-0 and the nightcap 17-0.
The Martians are now 32-2 overall and 16-0 in league play, wrapping up the GAC Red championship undefeated in league play.
Jessica Morgan pitched a no-hitter in the opener to improve her season record to 23-1. Morgan struck out 1l Hamady batters and allowed only two walks.
Goodrich scored six runs in the first inning and 10 in the fifth inning before the game was halted at the end of the fifth.
Ashley Short went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Blaze Wilson went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, and Jessica Morgan went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Tori Morgan took her turn on the mound for the Martians in the second game, and allowed only one hit in three innings of work, as the game was halted after the top of the third inning due to the mercy rule.
Tori Morgan struck out 10 in the contest, including five in the third inning. Twice, she struck out a Hamady batter, but Short, the Goodrich catcher, mishandled the third strike, allowing both Hamady runners to reach base on passed balls.
Tara Garman went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Blaze Wilson went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored, and Sydney Mahalak went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
