Lake Orion resident Jerry Grass said his mother, Clara, who passed away on Jan. 18, appreciated the services of the North Oakland Transportation Authority (NOTA) so much, that she wanted to leave them something to say thank you.
On March 21, Jerry presented NOTA Executive Director Pat Fitchena with a check for $1,000.
NOTA improves the quality of life for many area seniors by making sure they have reliable transportation to go shopping, go to the doctor, or keep their other appointments.
State representative James Marleau and head of Oakland Animal Control Larry Obrecht, who got NOTA started when he served as county commissioner, were also on hand for the occasion, which took place at the Lake Orion Nursing Center.
Clara lived at the center for three and a half years.
Jerry said she also thanked Orion Fire Rescue, who responded to 22 911 calls at her home.
‘She had a thank you list,? Jerry said.
‘She was blind the last 10 years of her life, so she couldn’t drive. NOTA was very important to her.?
