Trick or Treat in the Village of Oxford is set for Halloween night from 6-7 p.m. So to keep all those little ghouls and goblins out there safe and sound on this spooky holiday, here is a list of safety tips to keep in mind:
• Visibility is important – children should carry a flashlight, glow stick or have some type of reflective marking on their clothing.
• Stay on the sidewalks and follow all traffic signals.
• Only go to houses that are lit up.
• Make sure that costumes are safe – they should be warm enough for the evening and not drag on the ground.
• Do not eat any candy until parents have an opportunity to inspect it. Also, do not accept homemade treats.
• Young children should be accompanied by an adult at all times, and all parents should know where there children are.
“The police station will be open all evening and parents can bring any suspicious candy in there,” said Police Chief Mike Neymanowski.
Also, the Oxford Fire Department will be providing cider and donuts from 7-8 p.m. at both stations after the witches, ghosts and Power Rangers have finished prowling.
Have a safe and happy Halloween!
