Both the Brandon Blackhawks and Goodrich Martians sent runners to the Cross Country State Finals at Michigan International Speedway on Nov 1.
Martian freshman Fiodor Kessler finished 96th of 252 runners in the Division II boys final. Kessler was one of 20 freshmen in the 5K race. He ended the race fifth among freshmen with a personal record of 16:50.
‘The first mile was tough. There’s no spectators along the way, so I could not hear my coaches call out my times,? said Kessler. ‘Overall the course was flat and decent. The competition is compact’all close together, I got boxed in for two miles. I went out a little too fast, but I’m happy with the season.?
