Davisburg Heritage Festival in downtown Davisburg, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 9, includes an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast; antique tractor display; wagon-ride park tours; historical demonstrations; games; Hay Maze; and parade.
Sponsored by Springfield Township and Oakland County parks and recreation departments, all activities are free. Pancake breakfast is $5/person age 7 and older; $3/child age 3 ? 6; or free for children age 2 and under.
Oakland County Parks and Recreation also hosts the Ellis Barn Festival, 12-6 p.m., Oct. 9, in Springfield Oaks County Park, 12451 Andersonville Road.
Activities include horse-drawn wagon rides, mini-barn dance, antique tractors and displays, crafts, farm animals, barn tours, pioneer playground, rope-making demonstrations, pony rides, food vendors.
‘The festival centers on the historic Ellis Barn and outlines our heritage with the barn and its purpose, as well as highlights old-fashioned activities and traditions,? said Recreation Program Supervisor Tim Nowicki. ‘There’s something for everyone with pony rides, adult crafts, live demonstrations and more.?
‘This is a rare opportunity to explore our history in the 14,000-square-foot Ellis Barn and participate in unique hands-on activities,? said Planning Supervisor Jon Noyes. ‘Families can go on a fall excursion in the area and visit local cider mills and orchards; as well as stop by the Davisburg and Ellis Barn festivals for some old-fashioned fun.?
Parking and shuttle are provided, courtesy of Oakland County Parks and Rec. The shuttle runs continuously throughout the day among Ellis Barn, Springfield Township Civic Center, Mill Pond Park, cemetery and downtown Davisburg area.
