Blown glass, wearables, paintings, photography, jewelry, wood works and other necessities from hand-selected merchants will fill Depot Park for Clarkston’s 39th annual Art in the Village, Sept. 15-16.
‘Art in the Village is a signature Clarkston event, and many of our artists say it is their favorite show,” said Jennifer Arkwright, Clarkston Community Historical Society president.
The juried show, hosted by the Clarkston Community Historical Society, will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday; and 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday.
The Clarkston Union restaurant has signed on as a presenting sponsor, offering its famous Mac & Cheese as well as other selections.
“We are thankful that the Union’s generous involvement this year will add a delicious new dimension to our show.?
Art in the Village is the historical society’s primary fundraiser, supporting Clarkston Heritage Museum, purchase and restoration of Clarkston artifacts, and educational activities throughout the year.
In addition to decorative, functional and wearable art by nearly 90 artisans, the event features live music, children’s activities, and food sold by local nonprofit organizations.
The society will sell doughnuts and locally pressed cider.
‘Despite damage to the Michigan apple crop, our supplier assures us we’ll have all the cider our guests can drink,? said Arkwright.
The Antique Tent will be brimming with donated antiques and collectibles for sale, thanks to several large donations throughout the year.
A Silent Auction Tent features items generously donated to the Historical Society by show artists. The Historical Society also will sell shirts, bags, hats, blankets, note cards and other Clarkston merchandise. The Clarkston Farm and Garden Club returns with fresh-cut flower arrangements and mums.
The society is still accepting donations of antiques and collectibles for the antique sale. Donors will receive a tax receipt listing the fair market value of donated items.
