Local residents braved the cold and flocked to downtown Lake Orion last Saturday for the second annual Holiday Shopping Event, sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority. Not only did the local businesses enjoy the crowd, but shoppers and their families loved the horse-drawn carriage rides through the streets of the village, the chance to pet a real reindeer and ice sculpting demonstrations. An elf from the North Pole was even seen frolicking along Broadway. The only thing missing was Santa himself, but he visited the village’s toy store the next day.
