Samantha K. Chace
Samantha K. Chace, of Ortonville, was recently promoted to the rank of private first class as a member of the 1775th Military Police Company, Pontiac, Michigan Army National Guard.
A military police officer, Chace has been a member of the National Guard for one year. She attended basic training in 2007 at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
During her military career, Chace has received numerous awards, including the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon. In civilian life, Chace works for UPS as a cashier and is a student at Oakland University, pursuing a degree in criminal justice.
She is the daughter of Sheldon and Kathleen Chace of Ortonville.

Christopher A. Kaighen
Second Lieutenant Christopher A. Kaighen recently graduated from basic communication officer training (BCOT) at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss. Kaighen received several awards upon graduation, including the distinguished graduate award, AFCEA Award, given to the student with the highest academic average and the Maj. Gen Robert E. Sadler Award, awarded to the top student based on a combination of academic success, community involvement, leadership ability and peer ranking.
Kaighen, a 1994 graduate of Goodrich High School, is currently stationed at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida.
He is the son of Keith and Deborah Kaighen of Hadley.
