Jazz star’Alexander Zonjic’will host a’Jazzy Christmas Concert featuring special guest, Detroit’s?’Queen of the Blues?’Thornetta Davis.
The musical celebration is 4 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 14 at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 6805 Bluegrass Drive.
The concert is free, with free-will contribution to Blessings in a Backpack of Clarkston, helping hungry kids in Clarkston Community Schools.
Zonjic won the 2010 Album of the Year and Broadcaster of the Year at the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards. In addition to performing in 100 concerts a year, he is the artistic director of numerous music festivals.
Davis is known for her legendary’big, soulful voice and breathtaking interpretations of blues, soul, R & B and pop classics. She has opened for blues and R & B greats including Ray Charles, Gladys Knight , Etta James, Buddy Guy and Bonnie Raitt.
