The American Legion Auxiliary of Chief Pontiac #377 has named Miranda Lee Jones as Junior Member of the Year. Jones is a first grader at Davisburg Elementary.
Jones has helped promote the Auxiliary and it’s programs by serving as Junior Miss Poppy. She is responsible for promoting the veterans and their needs. While doing this, Miranda has worked really hard in the community visiting nursing homes and sending letters to veterans. Jones has also raised money for Muscular Dystrophy research, children with AIDS, respite care and Pendrickton School for the Blind. She has helped with handicapped bowling and the 18th District Presidents Robin Puckett’s special project to raise money for the P.O.H. Veterans Clinic.
During the holidays she has helped raise food for the Oakland County food bank, mittens and toys of the Lighthouse, socks and diapers for the Bethelem home in Pontiac and was present for the Martin Luther King Day program in Pontiac.
Mirandas’s mother, ShyLynn Jones, grandmother, Darlene Jones, and great-grandmother Leona Puckett are all Auxiliary members and have helped their community for many years.
