Riders head to the regional competition this weekend after advancing with their district competition.
The Clarkston High School Equestrian Team won the three meet District 2 Competition, Sept. 8-9 and 15-16. They competed against six other high schools in Armada.
The district meet consists of three separate meets over two weekends, both grueling events for both rider and horse.
The team won with an outstanding total of 388 points to Armada’s 325.
The Wolves won the first two meets and held a slim lead going into the final meet to decide the district title.
The team was led by junior Captain Emma Johnson who rode an outstanding district competition with 14 first place finishes.
Starting the final meet rally were impressive second place finishes by sophomores Becka Leek in Hunt Seat Bareback, and Sarah Pobuda in both Hunt Seat Fitting and Showing and Saddle Seat Bareback, and junior Vika McCallum in Western Reining and the speed race Indiana Flags.
During the second day meet, sophomore Rachel Vieira place second in Hunter Over Fences.
The regional competition is held this Saturday and Sunday at the Ingham County Fairgrounds in Mason.
