Independence Township Trustee Dan Kelly was recently elected to the nine member Board of Directors for the law firm of Cox, Hodgman and Giarmarco, P.C.
Mr. Kelly is serving his second term as Independence Township trustee. His law practice is primarily focused on civil and commercial litigation where he represents both plaintiffs and defendants in various litigated suits.
Most recently, Mr. Kelly represented two local school districts in civil rights actions which have resulted in significant rulings from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and were affirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Kelly has resided in Independence Township for 12 years with his wife Kathleen and four children ? Cailtlin, Meaghan, Caroline and Brenden.
In addition to his duties as trustee, he has served on the Independence Township Planning Commission, the Sashabaw Corridor Oversight Committee and sits on five of the township’s Lake Improvement Boards. Most recently, he was appointed to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and is very active in the board’s goal of building and funding a senior center for township residents.
