~~Beverly Tepper, a teacher in the Walled Lake School District, takes over the principalship at Pine Tree Elementary this fall.
~~Approximately 4,400 ballots will be hand-counted in a recount of the June 12 school election. Two area residents, Barbara Willing and Marilyn Dendel, had requested the recount. Willing was a losing candidate for a seat on the school board.
~~~Tim Fagan, a LOHS assistant principal, has resigned after 11 years in the school district. He’s taking over his father’s business in Ypsilanti.

~~A Senior Center Study Committee has recommended the proposed center be located on a parcel of land adjacent to the township hall at Joslyn/Scripps Road.
~~~Salary increases averaging 6.3 percent have been approved for several Lake Orion school administration. LOHS’s principal will earn $47,786. Salaries for the elementary school principals will range from $40,134 to $45,338.
~~~The school board adopted a $17 million general fund budget for 1985-86. Included in the budget is an expected enrollment decline of 165 students.

~~The US Jaycees made history June 27 by taking only one ballot to elect Orion Township’s Dick Robertson president of the national organization.
~~~Three people have drowned so far this year in the waters of Lake Orion.
