Lady Cats drop one, win one; LO is up next

The Lady Wildcats ‘were unable to keep pace with the scoring of Bloomfield and Shannon Wilson,? according to team stats keeper Brian Murphy.
Oxford was defeated 72-42.
‘Shannon Wilson from Bloomfield led all scores with 30 points,? Murphy said.
The Wildcats (7-2, 2-2) were without all-league forward Jessica Murphy, who was injured in the Rochester game and did not play.?
Oxford was led by Grace Wysocki and Samantha Medici with 13 points each and Christina Medici, who contributed 7 rebounds and 5 points.
However, in their Jan. 3 game against Rochester High School, the Lady Wildcats were a force to be reckoned with as they won 42-37.
‘The cold temperatures outside were off set by the heated battle inside,? Murphy said.
Oxford trailed early but managed to take a one-point lead going into the half time.
Tough defense held Rochester to just four points in the third quarter; however, they came storming back in the fourth when three of Oxford’s starting five fouled out of the game.
Some very critical free-throw shooting with under eight seconds to go finally put the game out of reach for Rochester and earned the Cats their second league victory.
Oxford was led by Jessica Murphy and Sky Donaldson with 12 points each.
Christina Medici contributed 6 points, and was critical down low, grabbing 10 rebounds. Rochester was led by Alexa Haupt with 11 points.
The Wildcats will take the court next on the road at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 against their rival to the south, Lake Orion.
