The Lady Wildcat cagers kicked off their season with a 30-25 win over Brandon Friday.
Oxford started out slow with seven points in the first quarter after going scoreless for the first four minutes of the game.
However, by half-time, Oxford held a slim two point lead by holding Brandon to just two points in the second quarter. The two teams matched points in the low scoring third quarter with eight a piece. In the final quarter, Oxford managed to hold on for the win, outscoring Brandon eight to five.
Leading scorer for the Wildcats was junior Jessica Murphy with 19 points. Brandon was led by Katelyn Hendershott with 10 points.
Next up for Oxford is a home game against Lakeland at 7p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12.
