Overall, the Lake Orion High School girl’s volleyball team is 27-19 this season.
The Lady Dragons competed with Lakeland and Frasier earlier in the year and took on Lahser last week, leaving with five of their 27 wins.
‘I hope the girls keep making improvements and start winning some more games against the better teams by the time we finish,? said Coach Bob Howey.
Knowing and understanding offense is the team’s strength, Howey said, while serve-receive, passing and defense is what they need to focus more on to pull through this season.
To get ready for the season most of the girls participated in club volleyball through late winter and early spring. When school is out of session they start conditioning, practicing a couple times a week, according to the coach. With 16 girls on the roster, Howey expects the girls to be on the top half of the league and to win districts.
‘There’s a good mix of freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors,? he said.
The coach noted: ‘The junior varsity and freshman teams are looking really good and we hope to get better every year.?
