Lady golfers struggle to improve

With a record of 1-5 in dual meets, Oxford’s girls varsity golf team is struggling this season, but to be fair the ladies are facing tougher opponents.
‘The (Flint Metro League) is good this year ? quality teams and players,? said Coach Terry Kelley. ‘Some of the other teams are just very, very good ? good leading scorers and good depth.?
But don’t count the Lady Cats out just yet.
‘We’re improving,? Kelley said. ‘Our pitching and chipping is improving.?
But the ladies need to really work on their putting.
‘Your short game is what can save you,? Kelley explained.
Unfortunately, competing school activities and part-time jobs are leading to scheduling conflicts that are affecting the team’s overall performance.
Kelley said he could really use more players who can ‘step in when conflict arise.?
Fortunately, sees some bright spots with freshmen players Hannah Beebe and Sarah Davis.
