Lake Fenton — On Oct. 16 the Lady Martians completed the sweep of three Flint Metro League Jamborees this season at Lake Fenton.
“There is no secret to their success, they love each other, they respect each other, they work hard together and rarely miss practice,” said Head Coach Al Warden. “All 14 of them are needed and all 14 of them are ready to step into a race knowing they will be supported by their teammates. The parents, siblings, grandparents are supportive for the entire season, they prepare the home course for races, they provide chocolate milk following practice. And, the Middle School program feeds the High School program.”
The Lady Martians earned a perfect score of 15 points in the STARS division, a 1,2,3,4 and 5 finish. All seven of the Goodrich runners finished in the top 11 of both divisions.
The Lady Martians were led by Sophomore Alivia Ottinger 18:55 setting a new course record; Second for GHS and second in the race was Senior Layla Jordan 19:27; third for GHS and fourth overall was Freshmen Kayla Shellenbarger 19:47; Fourth for GHS and sixth overall was Claire Brown 19:53; Fifth for GHS and seventh overall was Senior Kamryn Lauinger 20:07; sixth for GHS and eighth overall was Sophomore Baylor Lauinger 20:08, seventh for GHS and 11th overall was Avery Byrne 20:31.
The Goodrich Boys Cross Country team earned a co-championship in the Flint Metro Stars Division Jamboree #3 .
First for Goodrich and first in the race which included both the Stars and Stripes Division was GHS Junior, Vincent Pattison 16:17, a new course record; Second in Stars GHS Senior Cole Winter 16:48; Junior Gavin Ottinger 18:39 was third for GHS and 11th overall; Senior Trevor Gutteridge 19:11 was fourth for Goodrich and 14th overall; Ryan Oberle 19:23 fifth for GHS 17th overall. GHS Sophomore Jameson Ronzello finished 23rd overall while Senior Timmy Stull finished 30th.
