Lady skiers plow their way into first

The girls? varsity ski team raced to a commanding first-place finish in the Region 1 Ski Meet last Thursday at Pine Knob. The team beat 10 other Class A schools from the region to earn the title.
Team Captain Allison Mitchell (junior) and Marie Dohm (sophomore) had top 10 finishes in both Slalom and Giant Slalom among the 65 competitors.
The top three teams from the Regionals earn a spot in the state finals at Boyne Highlands, Feb. 22.
The varsity boys narrowly missed qualifying for the state finals by just nine points with a fourth place finish. Senior Rob Cordes finished in the top 10 in both slalom and giant slalom, among the 75 competitors in the boys? races. He will compete as an individual at the state finals.
Varsity Ski Coach Derek Delzer was named Regional Coach of the Year.
