The Lake Orion school board honored multiple district personnel at the June 9 board meeting for their tireless service to the district.
Among those moving on is a familiar face to many.
Pine Tree Elementary Principal Diane Dunaskiss is retiring after 36 years working in the Lake Orion school district.? She began her teaching career in 1979 as a first-grade instructor at Stadium Drive Elementary and moved to Carpenter Elementary the next year.?
Diane then took a position as a special education teacher at Pine Tree Elementary in the 1980s.? She became Principal at Pine Tree in 2000.?
Superintendent Marion Ginopolis recognized Diane’s tenure with the district at the Board of Education meeting , where she highlighted her career and how much she will be missed by the district.??
‘It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve as the Principal at Pine Tree for the past 15 years,? Dunaskiss said.? ‘Although education has changed in many ways during that time, what has endured at Pine Tree is the deep commitment to our students by a highly dedicated and talented staff.??
Diane plans to stay in Lake Orion during her retirement, taking advantage of the opportunity to spend more time with her children and grandchildren.?
She also hopes to teach at the college level and will continue to serve on the Wayne State University Board of Governors.
