Lake Orion varsity kickers have new coach

It’s a new season in more ways than one for the Lake Orion High School varsity girls soccer team. They have a new coach and a new division.
The Dragons will test themselves in their first season playing OAA I soccer, having moved up from OAA II this year. The team is also under new direction this year, with former junior varsity coach Ken Snage taking the helm.
“I’ve been coaching soccer since 1989,” Snage said. “I’ve coached nine undefeated teams. I’m a great believer in a commitment to excellence, and these kids are bringing it.”
The team has lots of new faces this season with only a few returning starters. Snage said the team is “fairly inexperienced” for varsity.
“The way we’re going about it is we’re building a program,” he said. “So we have good players at every level.”
Snage said a “commitment to excellence” does not always show in a team’s wins-losses record.
“We have a young team, but a lot of the kids have played soccer over the years,” he said. “The sophomores and juniors are a big class for us.”
Snage said the team only has three upperclassmen in the starting line-up.
