Junior Brad Lawrence once again anchored the Brandon boys cross country team at the Brandon Invitational Sept. 26.
Lawrence finished ninth out of 62 competitors in the invite, finishing with a time of 18:57. As a team, Brandon finished in seventh place with 163 points.
Oxford won the invitational with 24 points, while Warren De La Salle finished second (58) and Stoney Creek third (100).
Trevor DeWitt was the only other Brandon runner to finish in the top 30, placing 28th (19:57.5). Other Blackhawks competing in the invite were Chris Holton, Jared Blunk, Adam George, Steve Sanday and Dylan Kent.
On Sept. 24, the team lost 16-43 to Oxford. Lawrence was the Blackhawks’ top competitor, finishing fifth overall with a time of 18:19. Holton was next in line, finishing 11th (19:29), while Blunk finished third (20:07).
Rounding out the Blackhawks’ varsity were: DeWitt (14th, 20:07), Sanday (15th, 20:14), George (16th, 21:21) and Kent (17th, 21:36).
Brandon will compete at Lapeer West Oct. 8 in Flint Metro action.
