Fourth and fifth-graders from Leonard Elementary performed the holiday musical ‘Humbug!? Monday night at Oxford High School’s Performing Arts Center.
A takeoff of Charles Dickens? classic tale ‘A Christmas Carol,? the half-hour musical centers around a mean school teacher named Ms. Ebenezer, played by Oksana Kurka.
Ms. Ebenezer rarely smiles and loves to torture her students with tons of homework and tests.
It’s not that she’s a bad person, it’s just that somewhere over the years Ms. Ebenezer forgot why she became a teacher ? she lost her ‘spark.?
Then one day the school’s custodian (Dominic Biolchini), physical education teacher (Tony Bergano) and music teacher (Victoria Baker) take her on a journey through time to visit her past, present and future.
With the help of these three guides, Ms. Ebenezer finds her ‘spark? again and becomes the encouraging, happy teacher she originally set out to be.
