Dear editor,
We’re about to charter the Lake Orion Optimist Club. I’m really excited about the good things we can do in the future for the young people of Lake Orion.
We have 18 strong members and need only seven more to become an official club, giving us all the support of Optimist International (www.optimist.org), giving us the insurance we need (1,000,000 per member), and giving us the number necessary to insure future strength as an organization.
We’re very confident that we can make this happen within a couple of weeks. It is apparent that Monday morning get-togethers will not work for the majority of our membership, so we have scheduled our next meeting on Thursday, Sept. 9 at the Burger King located at 1155 S. Lapeer Road, at 5 p.m. They have a nice separated area for us to meet. Thank you to manager Rick Landreville for allowing us to use this location.
We hope you’ll make every effort to attend, members (those of you who have submitted applications), and new people as well. If we get started at 5, the meeting should not last more than 45 minutes. At this get-together we will gain a consensus on when and where the charter meeting will take place, and hear your views of how you feel we should move forward as a club.
It is a great honor to be a leader of an Optimist Club. If you feel you would like to among the leadership of the Lake Orion Optimist Club, please step forward. You can call me at 248-736-8833 if you have any questions at all. I really feel that every one of us can make a difference in the lives of young people, and those who lead have the ability to make a difference in the lives of the members as well.
Thank you for your interest in this club. I really believe that we will make a difference.
– Don Brose,
Roger Diederich
