Old Mill Legends
Dear Editor,
Last month the Ortonville Community Historical Society and the Old Mill Museum hosted their annual picnic.
The group made a few adjustments to accommodate everyone’s needs, but it was enjoyable for all who attended. First, everyone brought their own picnic food and ate together inside the cafe area. After a short business meeting, the Legends of the OCHS were featured: Kathleen Leece – 102 years-old: Arnold Seelbinder – 95; Dean Salley – 92; Elnor Seelbinder Paslean – 91; Marilyn Featherson – 91, John Hay – 89, Mary Alice Seelbinder and Ken Bush 81. A corsage or boutonniere was presented to each honoree.
Each Legend was interviewed by another member, and that person read the bio about them. Everyone learned something new about these seasoned persons and some history of our community.
From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays, The Old Mill Museum is open and during community events: SeptemberFest and Christmas in the Village. New members are always welcome.
