Letter to the editor: Thanks for back-to-school help

Dear editor,
Just how can we say thank you enough to the Lake Orion community for the incredible support during the recent FISH Backpack and School Supplies drive.
Along with countless individual donations, we received large contributions from The Bank of America, Lake Orion Walgreens, Costco, Joy Ellen Stimac, Gene VonSteeg, Mary Beth Buckbee, Pamela Jessee, Tina & Owen Bailey, Patricia & Steven Hartz, Robert Marshall, Dr. Tina Marshall & Staff, Susan Baker and the members of the Baldwin & Oxford Curves, Lake Orion Curves, Natalie & The Oxford Mom’s Club and of course, the Lake Orion Review and Oxford Leader.
The following churches were also instrumental in obtaining supplies: Free Methodist of Oxford, Lake Orion United Methodist, Paul & Howarth United Methodist, Christ the Redeemer Parish, King of Kings Lutheran, Thomas United Methodist, St. Mary’s in-the-Hills, and the parishioners of St. Joseph’s.
We are very grateful to the members of Oakwood Community Church who stuffed the backpacks. Meanwhile, the many volunteers who gave up their time to field phone calls, collect, sort, and distribute should also be commended.
Thanks to our generous community, over 200 needy children will enter school this year with a new backpack and the necessary equipment to accomplish their schoolwork! During these difficult economic times, your efforts are especially appreciated.
Sincerely,
Val Cass & Kathie Schafnitz
