Letters to the editor: Accolades for Dragon on the Lake

I would like to compliment the Orion Art Center and all of their hard working volunteers for the outstanding weekend they provided to the citizens of Lake Orion.
Dragon on the Lake was better than we could have imaged. My family and I spent the better half of two days at this fantastic event and we still didn’t have time to see and do everything there was to do.
Great job Reggie and Sue. We are looking forward to next year.

Wow, what a great weekend in Lake Orion! Members of the Orion Art Center did an outstanding job organizing the Dragon on the Lake event. I counted 20 boats in Friday night’s boat parade. The use of lights was very clever. The boaters were invited to an afterglow at the Lake Orion Boat Club after they traveled around the lake. It was definitely a community effort.
On Saturday afternoon, lots of talented artists (kids and adults) filled up a downtown parking lot with clever chalk art. Friends and neighbors spent time together at the Dragon Pub talking about old times. On Sunday, Orion boaters got a chance to cheer nine teams racing in long canoes. Everyone who participated were winners.
And what can I say about the Princess cruise boat. Four or five times a day, all weekend, I saw people on the boat taking photos and clapping to the sounds of banjo music. Sounds like a lot of fun doesn’t it? Can’t wait until next year.

With gratitude, to all that attended, participated, volunteered, enjoyed, invested, chalked, raced, ate, listened to music, laughed and loved this event. There was a Dragon on the Lake this past weekend in Lake Orion and what a Dragon on the Lake it was!

Dragon on the Lake

What a great weekend in and on Lake Orion. The Dragon on the lake festival was fantastic!! I especially enjoyed the Michigan Princess. Kudos to the people responsible for bringing this “cruise ship” to our area. It makes me quite proud to live in Orion Township where living is truly a vacation.
