Thank you community
Dear Editor,
With another year about gone and Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays coming up I am very glad to be part of the Ortonville community.
As the VFW Post commander, I want to thank all the residents and business owners for their support and donations to help the VFW Post be able to further the programs and charities we support. This past year Ortonville became a Purple Heart community which honors veterans in the community past and present who received wounds or gave their life for their country.
This time of the year we have many needy people and a lot of veterans. On Dec.17-18 the post will be taking poppy donations at Wojo’s Greenhouse, 2570 Oakwood Road, Ortonville.
I would like to commend employees from Bueche’s who went above and beyond to help a veteran in need with donations above the help from the VFW.
This is why I am very honored to live in a community that shows this much respect and support to all the veterans in the area. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Dennis Hoffman,
VFW Post 582
Apple pie thank you
Dear Editor,
Thank you to the United Methodist Men and United Methodist Women groups who on Nov. 21 delivered a fresh apple pie to my home on Sands Road in Brandon Township. I am 82-years-old and along with my wife moved to the township on a cold day in January 1964. We have since raised six children in this community. The apple pie came with a note that read, “You are the apple of God’s eye.” This is not the first act of kindness from the community, but the pie was just a wonderful expression of kindness at the holiday season.
Thanks again, Richard Koss
