The Orion Township Library and Lake Orion Schools will form a new partnership beginning this fall, called ‘The Think Link.?
Library Director Linda Sickles detailed the program to the LO School Board at their Aug. 9 meeting, saying she had read about a similar program done in Maryland.
The Maryland program increased the number of library card holders, as well as students? test scores. ‘We want to make sure very child has a library card,? Sickles said.
Included will be registration for library cards at all of the schools, with the cards being mailed to students? homes, as well as library programs available for the classroom.
Each school will also have its own library liaison, weekly delivery and pick-up of books, and special library cards for teachers with longer check-out dates and no overdue charges.
In addition, the library will participate in staff development by offering classes to the schools, as well as their online tutoring service for grades 4 and up.
