BRANDON TOWNSHIP – Whether it be a Friends of the Library-sponsored seminar, a benefit for a good cause or a concert on the lawn, the Brandon Township Library seems never to have a down day.
On their agenda this month is one of Americas best female performers, best acoustic act and best solo act, as voted by colleges and universities nationwide.
The library will host a concert by Grammy Award winning singer songwriter Barbara Bailey Hutchison.
According to a press release, “Hutchison describes her music as neo-folk,” and Hutchison herself is described as “fresh, powerful and really quite funny.”
Hutchison is familiar to many radio listeners across the nation and has recorded 16 CDs. She can also be heard on television, as she has sung jingles for hundreds of television commercials, including those for McDonalds, Hallmark Cards and Sears.
The singer-songwriter will be bringing her style and finely crafted songs to the library in honor of Women’s History Month.
“After all the years I’ve been booked during Women’s History Month, merely because I fill the gender requirement, I found a fun and entertaining way to bring some of the outstanding accomplishments of women to my audience,” Hutchison said. “After all, we’re long overdue to write women back into history.”
Hutchison will perform in the library community room at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20.
She will be available after the show to talk with the audience and sign CDs.
