The Oxford Lions Club Thursday, April 7 presented Theresa Miner (left) and Kathlene Roberts (right) awards for heroism. On Feb. 5, 2005, the brave and quick-thinking pair of 2004 Oxford High School graduates saved the lives of two small Lake Orion children they were baby-sitting when the house suddenly caught fire. As smoke and flames filled the home, Miner and Roberts, with lightning speed, wisked McKenzie Hanigan, 3, and Gavin Hanigan, 1, outside to safety and called 9-1-1. Lions President Charlie Garrad (center) said the club learned of the young ladies? act of heroism in The Oxford Leader and decided to honor them.
