Lions? hurlers nearly perfect

Now 7-3, the Lake Orion Baptist School Lions congratulates their pitchers on some fantastic play.
Junior pitchers Chris Hojnacki and Matt Cameron have shut down opponents? bats and won three games each in the Lions? seven-game winning streak.
Cameron has thrown back-to-back no- hitters while Hojnacki has struck out 30 batters in his last 13 innings.
On May 5, LOBS swept Bethany Christian in Troy, 15-1 and 14-6 in a doubleheader.
Hojnacki picked up the win in the opener, scattering four hits while striking out twelve Bruin batters.
James Moreno led the offensive barrage with a four-for-four, five RBI performance.
Conner Welby and James Noruk chipped in two hits each, while Hojnacki helped his own cause, blasting a three-run homer.
In the nightcap, Cameron picked up the win in relief, striking out 8 and allowing only one base runner in 3 innings. Welby, Moreno and Ben Case had two hits.
Lions traveled to Davison May 8 to battle rival, Faith Baptist. Faith had defeated the Lions in the last inning in the last three outings.
In that opener, Hojnacki spun a two-hitter while striking out 14 Eagle batters in an 8-0 shutout.
Welby led the way offensively with a three-for-three performance. Hojnacki and Moreno each added two hits.
In that nightcap, the pitchers dueled as the Lions topped Faith 3-0.
Faith’s ace pitcher, Jonathan Knapp, took the loss, allowing four hits and two walks, while striking out 12 Lion batters.
But that evening, LOBS’s Cameron was sharper. He threw a no-hitter, allowing only one base runner while striking out eight.
Hojnacki had two run-scoring singles, plating Moreno twice.
