Lions work during White Cane Week

The day after the Clarkston Area Lions Club celebrates their new charter, the members will hit the streets for one of the club’s major fund-raising activities.
White Cane Week will run April 29-May 8, and Lions will be in and around Clarkston and Independence townships collecting donations for community service activities.
Initial charter membership formation activities began in October 2004 under the sponsorship of the Ortonville and Lake Orion Lions Clubs. Now with 35 members, the Clarkston Area Lions Club will celebrate the presentation of their charter at an April 28 banquet at Liberty Golf and Banquet.
With the motto, ‘We Serve,? the Lions strive to support the less fortunate in the area through volunteerism and fellowship. They are a club for all ages, a meeting place for social activities and an environment which fosters and supports new ideas on how ‘We Serve.?
Regular meetings are the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the Mesquite Creek restaurant.
