Wagon Wheel II earned its second win of the season on June 30 with a hard-fought, 10-5 victory over Hamlin Pub.
Mark Brancheau’s three-run homer keyed a four-run first inning, and Wagon Wheel never trailed after. Hamlin tied the game at 5-5 with a two-run surge in the top of the fourth, but Wagon Wheel answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning.
WW padded its lead with two more runs in the fifth, and in the eighth. Brancheau paced the winners with two homeruns, in a 3-for-3 night at the plate.
Mike Burke carried Hamlin Pub with a 4-for-4 showing, and Kyle Fritz was 3-for-4. Both teams are now 2-9 on the year.
BW3s defeated Quality Fast, 22-17, keeping playoff hopes alive. Both teams are 5-7, and fighting for the fourth playoff spot in the American League.
BW3s broke open a 13-11 game with nine runs in the eighth. Quality Fast made it interesting by scoring six in the top of the ninth, but the rally fell short.
Dave Barkley led the winners with a homerun in the a 2-for-2 showing. Ron Brunson helped out by going 3-for-4.
Garrett Poulan went 5-for-5 and hit a two-run homerun in the ninth. Tommy Holcomb went 3-for-4 to pace Quality Fast.
Griffin Fence defeated Ruby Tuesdays, 18-14, as they clinched a playoff spot and maintained the lead in the National Division.
Mike Miscovich went 3-for-4 with a homer to lead Griffin, while Keith Bergum went 5-for-6, and Gary Nelson chipped in with four hits.
Tool, Sport and Sign defeated Wagon Wheel I, 21-14, to move into sole possession of second place in the National League.
Wagon Wheel I tied the game at 14-all in the bottom of the eighth, but Tool Sport pushed seven runs across in the top of the ninth. Troy Russnell and Brian Davenport were each 4-for-5 to pave the way for Tool Sport.
McKinney Brothers Carpentry defeated SOS Mechanical, 19-8, clinching a playoff spot and maintaining a share of first place in the American League.
Jay Traylor paced the winners, 11-1 on the season, with a 5-for-5 night. Matt Moulder hit a pair of homers, finishing 3-for-3.
Mike McKinney added a 4-for-5 effort, and Carl McEvers was 3-for-4.
Eagles defeated Cobra Computers, 32-13. Bob Brunson was 5-for-5, and Mike Smith went 6-for-7 for the winning team.
Heath Kinney and Brad Cline helped out with four hits each.
Larry Atorthy hit a homerun for Cobra, and finished with three hits, as did Matt Sliwa, Ryan Thomas and Jamie Kennedy.
