Brandon Twp.— A few new leaders will join area boards this fall following the November general elections.
In Brandon Township, incumbent Jayson Rumball won the Republican nomination with 1,020 votes, over challengers Kathy Thurman, 831 votes, and Edward Darbyshire, 192 votes. Incumbent clerk Roselyn Blair garnered 1,622 for the republican nomination. Vicki Hale won the Democratic nomination with 784 votes. Dana DePalma won the Republican nomination for treasurer with 1,563 votes. Five candidates vied for four Republican nominations for the Brandon Board of Trustees. Candidates Robert Marshall, 1,160 votes, Tony Candiloro, 1,032 votes, Steven Unruh, 962 votes, and Scott Strangeland, 939 votes, won the four Republican nominations over challenger Debbie Ross, 917 votes.
In Groveland Township, candidate Kevin Scramlin won the Republican nomination with 616 votes, versus challenger Christopher Yuchasz with 493 votes. Incumbent clerk Jenell Keller won the Republican nomination with 819 votes. Incumbent treasurer Theresa Bills won the Republican nomination with 687 votes over challenger Shelly Kidd with 353 votes. Incumbent trustees Jim Christopher and Gina Muzzarelli won the two GOP nominations with 703 and 599 votes respectively.
The Groveland Township fire millage renewal also passed with 940 votes for the millage and 418 votes against.
In Atlas Township, interim Supervisor Jim Busch won the Republican nomination with 802 votes over challenger Katie Vick with 358 votes. Toni Yaklin won the Republican nomination for clerk with 869 votes. Incumbent Ann Marie Moore won the Republican nomination for treasurer with 881 votes. Four candidates vied for two Republican nominations for trustee, with incumbent Pat Major, 540 votes, and newcommer Tracy Butcher, 538 votes, winning the nominations over challengers Traci Sasser, 482 votes, and Mike Varacalli, 353 votes.
In the 66th State House of Representative serving Brandon Township, incumbent Rep. Josh Schriver won the Republican nomination for the 66th District representative with 4,595 votes. Challenger Randy LeVasseur garnered 2,492 votes. Shawn Almeranti-Crosby won the Democratic nomination with 3,317 votes.
In the 68th State House of Representative serving Atlas and Groveland townships, incumbent Rep David Martin won the GOP nomination with a total of 6,760 votes across Oakland and Genesee Counties. For the Democratic race, Tim Sneller won the nomination with 6,876 votes, despite his death in July.
Oakland County Commissioner 7th District Republican incumbent Bob Hoffman won the Republican nomination with 6,834 votes. Derek Marshall won the Democratic nomination with 3,579 votes.
Genesee County Commissioner 5th District Democrat incumbent James Avery won the Democratic nomination with 4,562 votes. John Wellington won the Republican nomination with 2,573 votes.
