Students at Lake Orion High School turned out en masse to participate in last Friday’s ‘Cell Out for Soldiers? event.? They turned in nearly 1,800 cell phones for the day, helping raise more than $2,600 for the national Cell Phone for Soldiers charity that provides prepaid phone to servicemen and women overseas so they can call home.
The event was organized by the school’s Leadership Workshop Class which collected and tagged the phones and distributed them back to students at the end of the day.? The Cell Out prompted Lake Orion’s students to communicate with each other the old-fashioned way without mobile technology or social media ? and all for a great cause.
