Lake Orion High School junior Kristin Limback took first place in her category of informative at the LOHS team’s first forensics competition at Henry Ford II High School on Jan. 15.
Twenty-seven Lake Orion students, of the 32-member team, competed. They were: Stephanie Alspach, Christina Anger, Jessica Gibson, Kyle Haverson, Matt Hood, Linda Johnsen, Julie Johnson, Josh Kase, Stephanie Kipp, Kristin Limback, Mallory Malloy, Danielle McGoldrick, Nicole Miller, Carmen Neely, Hope Pascoe, Brittany Polley, Julia Prevost, Bob Putnam, Krista Putnam, Kelsey Ruppert, Julie Sabo, Andy Slagh, Lindsay Slavick, Melissa Smith, Dana Spear, Katie Valko and Jamie Webb.
Other finalists were Halverson, fourth place, oratory; Slavick, sixth place, oratory; and Smith/Slagh, sixth place, duo.
Semifinalists were McGoldrick/Putnam, 12th place, duo; Spear, eighth place, informative 9/10; Pascoe, 11th place, informative 9/10; Alspach/Valko, seventh place, duo 9/10; and Johnson/Anger, 12th place, duo.
On Jan. 22 at the tournament finals at Sterling Heights Stevenson High School, Limback took another first place finish, while other Lake Orion finalists Dana Spear and Shannon Yaroch took second and sixth places, respectively, in informative 9/10.
Mallory Malloy placed fourth in sales, Julie Sabo took fifth in prose, and Matt Hood took sixth in storytelling.
The LOHS forensics team will next compete on Feb. 26 at Troy Athens.
