Lake Orion Police Department officers Larry Dugan and David Churchill have been selected for an all-expenses paid trip to the 5.11 Challenge in Montana, a national shooting competition.
The competition is Aug. 14-17. Both officers will represent the LOPD, and compete against law enforcement officers from federal, state and local departments across the country.
The top three shooting teams will compete in a finals competition in late Aug., that will be nationally-televised on the Outdoor Channel program, ‘Shooting Gallery.?
In the event Dugan and Churchill win, the LOPD will receive up to $100,000 in equipment and uniforms.
There’s no cost for the department for the trip, and both officers are part-time and will not require leave time.
LOPD Chief Jerry Narsh said both just happen to be his department’s best shooters.
‘This competition gets thousands of applicants from around the country,? he said.
