An organization that prides itself on helping the underprivileged is now in need of help.
Love In the Name of Christ (or Love INC for short), is looking for a new place to house its northern Oakland County offices. On August 13, it learned that its current location’the Ehman Center on 55 West Elizabeth Street in Lake Orion’will go to auction in September.
Love INC had been leasing the center on a monthly basis for about a year and a half. In the notice they received, they were informed that they will need to be moved out by early October since the company that owns the building won’t be providing it with heat for the winter.
Sandy Weaver, north Oakland County’s Love INC executive director, said they wanted to get the word out as much as possible since the deadline isn’t giving them much time.
‘In our urgency, we’ve put out feelers to see if anyone knows of a building for lease, purchase or for space that can be donated,? she said.
Weaver added that they have many items that will need to be moved. Their office houses four major ministries: the furniture ministry, the clothes closet, household good ministry and personal needs ministry.
Northern Oakland County’s Love INC is a non-profit organization that serves those ranging from the area north to the Lapeer county line, east to Dequindre, south to Auburn Road and west to M-15. Currently, they serve more than 400 families in this area and are staffed by more than 50 volunteers from area churches. The northern Oakland office is staffed by 20 volunteers.
