Hi there, I’m Tricia Kachin, but you can call me Trish.
I’m 18-years-old, I’m 5?9?, a vegetarian, a graduate of Oxford High School, and I’ve got a passion for journalism. I enjoy long walks on the beach, concerts, live theater, candle lit dinners, fan fiction, friends, family and God.
Some of my favorite bands are the Academy Is, Cobra Starship, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Motley Crue, Panic at the Disco, and Avenged Sevenfold.
My role models are Jesus, my brother and two sisters, and my parents.
I haven’t lived in Oxford for very long, I used to live in Lake Orion, where I attended Lake Orion High School for two years.
Due to the loss of my father in 2006, I moved in with my mom and transfered to a new school.
Making the switch to Oxford High was a little difficult, but I was taken underneath the wing of a one Mr. Brian Edwards. He became one of my favorite teachers and helpful mentor.
As of my senior year of high school I was the entertainment editor for the OHS Press newspaper and president of the OHS Writers? Club. I am active in Drama Club and Improv. I attended Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp for four summers and learned rewarding skills. I am also a member of my church’s Wednesday night youth group.
I plan to attend Ferris State University in the fall for my Bachelor’s Degree in Communications.
I am planning on joining Ferris? newspaper, The Torch. I am hoping to work for Alternative Press magazine located in Cleveland, Ohio. It’s a magazine dedicated to alternative-rock music.
If I’m not at a show, writing, or listening to my iPod, I’m usually reading the current month’s issue.
I enjoy being an intern for the summer at the Leader, I am learning a lot from my superiors, Casey Curtis and C.J. Carnacchio. Their pearls of wisdom are helping me expand my writing and love for journalism. Thanks you two!!
