A special luncheon is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 7, at St. Augustine’s House, located on Drahner Rd., to raise funds for the costs of retreats for theological students.
A large part of the ministry at St. Augustine’s is hosting retreats at the guesthouse; and while most guests are able to provide adequate donation to cover their expenses, theological students often have limited resources and stay for free. St. Augustine’s encourages students to make retreats and hopes the funds raised with this luncheon will cover the cost for students in 2003 and through 2004.
This year’s luncheon will have a special Mexican theme in honor of theological student Isaias Ramirez, who is from Mexico and is staying at St. Augustine’s for a year. Ramirez plans to eventually establish a similar monastic community in his native land. The meal is being supported by Sagebruch Cantina in Lake Orion and Thrivent Financial Services for Lutherans. Those attending the event are asked to make a donation towards this ministry.
